LTO Nederland wants a crop derogation for the crops grass, wheat, sugar beet, perennial rye grass and winter rapeseed. If LTO's proposal goes through, it will be the first time that the Netherlands has applied for a crop derogation. Until now, a farm derogation applied to grassland farms that grow grass on at least 80% of the acreage. This makes the current derogation only attractive for dairy farms. Jaap van Wenum, chairman of LTO Arable Farming, explains the choice for crop derogation. "It suits this time."
