'Trade in phosphate rights is rough'

4 September 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 4 comments

'The trade in phosphate is rough', says broker Lourens van der Lelij in this first episode of BB TV Phosphate rights. He is referring to the rising prices of the options on rights. The demand for phosphate rights is decreasing slightly, but the supply is increasing.

Buy or sell hot air?????

In the quota era, 2 euros per liter was paid.
A cow 8000 liters times 2,00 euros is 16000 euros per cow.
At that time, the interest was also 4 to 5%, now you borrow for half.

Where is this going to end?

Yes guys, hot air is expensive. So if you want to spend all your savings on that, you're doing well. Don't forget to sponsor the banks and brokers. Because those poor slobs can hardly sleep from hunger.

In that case, €2,00 may EVER have been paid for a liter of quota. however, the price of land has doubled or even more. so even if the interest rate is low. There is simply nothing to be paid for those rights.

It doesn't matter whether the money goes to rights, land or tractors. A dairy farmer uses 400 euros a week privately and the rest he spends on toys.
