'Price drop obvious now that sugar quota expires'

The European sugar quota will be abolished on Sunday 1 October. Effects on sugar production and on the beet price are inevitable. Ruud Schers, sugar analyst at Rabobank, assumes considerably higher sugar production in Europe. In addition, according to Schers, we have to take falling prices into account.

The sugar analyst also notes that players outside Europe are anxiously awaiting what will happen, because how fast is export from Europe growing and what effect will this have on world sugar prices?
