Market flash: Herma van den Pol

First milk prices of 2018 are in sight

20 December 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 2 comments

At the last minute it seems that the milk market has found a balance again. Whether this is the bottom remains to be seen. In any case, it is positive that prices are not falling further.

The gap between the market and prices makes it exciting with which milk prices FrieslandCampina and Arla will open the year 2018.

The market has struck a balance ??? A swallow does not make a summer and an increase of € 20/mt for whole milk powder does not neutralize the decreases for Butter and MMP.

The question about the milk price of Arla and RFC seems to be a rhetorical one. Of course they both go down.

On the basic commodities, the milk yields less than € 30/100 kg. So continuing to pay around € 40/100 kg is not possible.

Not so pessimistic Robert. It's going to be really good next year.
Even without a futures market. Especially since now even Herma sounds positive.

Half next year we will be well below the 5-year average without incidents.

Got a decent price for some time, after 2 years very bad.
Crying again next year with cap in hand, what a sadness in this rotten sector (don't even mention the phosphate drama)
