What if borrowing starts to cost money again?

11 September 2018 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 10 comments

Interest rates have been low for ages and that means that borrowing money is cheap today. However, there is a high probability that interest rates will rise. Peter Pals, director of Farmers Funding, explains that an increase of 1% can already have significant consequences. Pals also explains how farmers can anticipate rising interest rates.

It is logical that interest rates will rise, the party will eventually be over.

Borrowing cheaply, they say, has made everything a lot more expensive, especially the land price with higher interest rates, it never went so smoothly and in the meantime, father has received a lot of registration rights.
And here in Belgium there are still many farmers who are in the flat-rate system, so you only have a limited amount of interest when tax returns.
With high interest rates, the building frenzy would also be calmer and we might now have better prices and less debt (food for thought!!)

Believe me the Euro is the biggest blunder of the last 100 years. It is a totally worthless currency.
