Despite the difficult sugar market, Suiker Unie believes that a base price of €2018 per tonne of sugar beet can be maintained after 32,50. Albert Markusse, the CEO of Cosun, explains what the beet grower can expect.

Not much choice I think. At grain prices of 20 euros, beets should actually yield 40 euros per tonne. A little less for one or two years is possible, but not structurally. Fortunately, this is the case everywhere and it will be fine on its own.
