Triferto to purchase fertilizers for Agrifirm

24 February 2022 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

Triferto Fertilizers and Agrifirm will collaborate in the purchase of fertilizers. In this agreement it has been agreed that Triferto will take care of the entire purchasing and logistics for Agrifirm from the coming 2022/23 fertilizer season, which starts on 1 July. Kai Kikkers, the CEO of Triferto, explains in an interview with Boerenbusiness the backgrounds of the collaboration.

With the pact, Triferto will become one of the largest purchasers of fertilizers in the Netherlands. According to Kikkers, this increase in scale is also necessary in order to be a serious player in the fertilizer market and thus also be able to benefit from innovations and other developments in fertilizers. For example, work is being done on a new generation of fertilizers that are produced with much lower CO2 emissions. Kikkers also expects to achieve a lot of CO2 savings in the joint implementation of logistics from the collaboration with Agrifirm. This gives Triferto access to the locations in Drachten and Oss, from which Agrifirm distributes the fertilizers.

For Triferto, part of the Brokking family business, this is the third agreement in a short time. In July last year, the company announced to the Belgian Pillaert Fertilizers to take over† In December it was announced that Triferto will be collaborating with the purchase of fertilizers with the German cooperative RWZ
