Conviction is growing: onion market is moving

1 April 2022 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 7 comments

The movements for yellow onions on the regional exchanges are moving in all directions. On average, prices move sideways. The demand for onions mainly comes from Europe. It is mainly the coarse yellow onions that are sought after.

The market is looking for good coarse onions that are no longer available.

I miss the tare in the story, at the moment parties with less than 10% can hardly be found anymore. 15% comes earlier.

You can fool yourself, but the stove can't smoke.

I'm hearing a lot of disappointments from growers right now.

Yes, they really do still exist. They are just not for sale at current prices.

If you have both signed a contract, there can be nothing wrong.
tare is tare. "Kilos are kilos, and if you've signed things that could get them out of their obligation,
then you didn't sign a good contract, but let yourself be framed.

Idd, but the discussion will arise if the daily price is (much) lower than the contract price.
And not to mention the disappointing tare.
And if it is mid-May, you as a grower don't have much more to want if a discussion arises.
You can no longer respond.
