More and more green plant protection products

14 July 2023 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 4 comments

According to the most recent figures from Statistics Netherlands, 5% fewer plant protection products will be sold on the Dutch market in 2021. The shrinking list of permitted products will also mean a switch to alternatives. "There is more looking for green resources," says Cor Pierik, agricultural economist at CBS.

Very nice, but is it effective and affordable, or do we have to go out every other day with the spray cart. I think the cost will go up dramatically. I don't read about that.
But we should applaud it, this may again offer more future, because chemical means are despised by many.

if I have listened carefully, 9.4 million kg are sold and only 5 million kg are used by agriculture
so 4.4 million goes away on a different scale, eg NS or private persons
that's almost as much
agriculture used 5% less again

Nice green resources, I've had test fields myself for several years, but if there really is the high pressure disease, then the strong resources had to be used.
