Russia remains an important factor in the grain market. It is increasingly clear that the Kremlin wants to cripple grain exports from Ukraine, and to some extent they are succeeding. To ease the suffering for the poorest African countries, Putin announced that he would make grain available for free. And Africa is not Russia's only notable customer.
