Solving the manure crisis in our country is possible

8 August 2024 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 8 comments

"It is necessary that a solution to the manure crisis is found quickly and it is doable," says LTO chairman Ger Koopmans. After four months of chairmanship, he enters into discussions with Boerenbusinesseditors Wouter Baan and Klaas van der Horst take stock. According to him, with the right efforts from the current government and input from the sector itself, it should be possible to resolve the crisis. He doesn't think much of the stories about 'the halving industry'. He has also heard the threat of a final derogation before. A derogation is really better, Koopmans knows. In the conversation, he also discusses Rabobank's suggestion to start talking again about an agricultural agreement and explains how he thinks he can collaborate with other agricultural organizations.

I think it should remain that way, it nicely compensates for the low grain prices.

Drent Yesterday 21:56 PM can stay that way, it nicely compensates for the low grain prices. .................. This is not a nice reaction, apart from the fact that you are not allowed to receive that much anymore....

Dear Ger, entrepreneurs are not going to do it themselves! We have been able to arrange things together for forty years. Apparently there is still a nitrogen problem. The decisiveness of LTO, among others, is not very great. One person shouts this, the other shouts that, in the end nothing happens. That's how it has been all these years

Perhaps halving the livestock population is just an idea.

Without forced expropriations of course and with a future perspective.

If the derogation is ever going to work, it is now. Bringing the right people to Brussels can make a big difference. A good lobby with well-substantiated documents should certainly have a chance of success. A derogation on grassland and possibly. grains should be possible. Plain unprocessed manure works perfectly. It is also the best solution for the environment.

I gain confidence in Ger when he does what he says. I find the consultation he had with a certain Adema less positive! Then it is about old policy, false analyzes in a false approach for farmers in Brussels. I think Sjaak was the Sjaak, but I think even more strongly that the sector is the Sjaak! There now appears to be a positive development. Make sure that as a sector, together with a realistic and fair policy approach, you come up with new legislation that is good for targeted entrepreneurship for the first 10 years. Minister Wiersma does want terrible substantiation such as the current substantiation for derogation! Throw Aerius on the scrap heap and measuring is actually different from fluffy models where only IT people turn the knobs and correct them until they have their way. Please forget about sensors that are then used as unreliable, so let's screw it up! You can measure water quality and you know what you have to do as an entrepreneur. Finally, Mr. Full-shit-pants is now coming up with a proposal to ban PFAS for agriculture. We don't even know what it is in and all companies that discharge according to a permit must first be enforced! We must minimize chemicals in agriculture anyway, we don't need that pale fart for that!!!
