French fries potatoes have been officially listed in the Netherlands again since yesterday (Monday 6 January 2025). Niels van der Boom and Jurphaas Lugtenburg, the market specialists of DCA Market Intelligence, however, have mixed feelings about the restart of PotatoNL. This is compared to the weather forecast.
They explain this in the first podcast Boerenbusiness Market Quarter Arable Farming of 2025 to presenter Eric de Lijster and their new colleague Jan Willem Veldman, who will be sitting behind the microphone on his first day at the editorial office. Among other things, the trends of the potato contracts for the 2025 harvest will be discussed, with eager anticipation as to what proposals the Dutch processors will come up with.
Lugtenburg also gives his vision on the onion market, which has yet to gain any real momentum. Veldman sees movement in the cultivation of specifically pink onions. Van der Boom concludes with a nice weather proverb to explain his expectations for the arable farming year 2025.

Strange discussion at market quarter. Potato NL shows what potatoes were traded for in the previous week. Fortunately we can see which variety is at the top and which variety is at the bottom. The notaries have interests but are instructed to give the correct representation of completed transactions. Nonsense to suggest that these people can steer. They are simply not allowed to do that. Glad that there is a Dutch listing again and a lot of confidence in discussion leader Watze van der Zee.This is in response to it Boerenbusiness article:
