Interest rates are falling and will continue to fall

1 February 2025 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 4 comments

The ECB cut interest rates this week, while its US counterpart kept the rate the same. According to Edin Mujagić, economist and manager of investment fund Hoofbosch, the divergent interest rate paths can be logically explained given the economic situations. Although inflation in the eurozone is still higher than the central bankers in Frankfurt are aiming for, Mujagić is convinced that interest rates will fall even further in the coming months.

This is what they call stagflation. Stagnant economy combined with too high inflation. It is not easy to get out of it. The only thing that helps is wage reduction in combination with tax reductions. And then we can only hope that the industry will recover and not close down for good. Germany holds the key. Ditto for the agricultural sector. Here it is not the demand that is the problem, but the legal swamp in which the entire sector is in danger of drowning.

interest is no longer made by supply and demand but by politics and they are very bad economists. the world is made by spenders (those who spend a lot of money) and not by savers, but you need both

I am still very much in trouble with a loan with a very high interest rate and I am not reassured.

If the interest rate is not fixed, then it can be a problem. But the repayment will come to you big time with all that inflation.
